Some shirts represent a great team. Others become inseparable from a style of football that changed the game.

The FC Barcelona 2010/11 Home Jersey is one of those shirts. It belongs to the peak of the Pep Guardiola era, when Lionel Messi, Xavi, Iniesta and a remarkable generation of Barcelona players produced some of the most memorable football Europe had ever seen.

The Story Behind the Jersey

Barcelona entered the 2010/11 season as European champions, but Guardiola's team was about to create another chapter in its history.

The core of the squad remained extraordinary: Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta, Sergio Busquets, Carles Puyol and Gerard Piqué, joined by players such as David Villa and Javier Mascherano. The football was built around possession, movement and an almost unmatched ability to control the biggest matches. The club itself describes this generation as one that took Barça to the highest level of European football.

One night in particular became a symbol of the season.

On 29 November 2010, Barcelona hosted Real Madrid at Camp Nou. José Mourinho's Madrid arrived with Cristiano Ronaldo and a new challenge for Guardiola's side.

Barcelona responded with a 5–0 victory.

Xavi, Pedro, David Villa twice and Jeffren found the net as Barça completely overwhelmed their rivals. It became one of the defining performances of Guardiola's reign.

Barcelona went on to win their third consecutive La Liga title, before turning their attention to Europe.

In the Champions League, Barcelona defeated Arsenal and Shakhtar Donetsk before facing Mourinho's Real Madrid in the semi-finals. A 2–0 victory in Madrid, highlighted by two goals from Messi, put Barça on the road to another European final.

Then came Wembley.

On 28 May 2011, Barcelona met Manchester United in the Champions League final — the same opponent they had defeated in Rome two years earlier.

This time, the performance was even more dominant.

Pedro Rodríguez opened the scoring in the 27th minute after a brilliant pass from Xavi. Wayne Rooney equalized, but Barcelona continued to control the match.

In the 54th minute, Lionel Messi received the ball outside the area and fired a low shot beyond Edwin van der Sar.

2–1 Barcelona.

Fifteen minutes later, David Villa produced the final moment of the night, curling a beautiful shot into the corner.

Barcelona 3–1 Manchester United.

The fourth European Cup in club history was theirs. Messi was named Man of the Match, while Barcelona became European champions for the third time in six seasons.

It was also a particularly poetic victory.

The final was played at Wembley, the same stadium where Barcelona had won its first European Cup in 1992.

Twenty years later, another generation of Barça legends had conquered the same ground.

The Shirt of Guardiola's Peak

The design of the 2010/11 home shirt is instantly recognizable.

Traditional Barcelona blue and garnet stripes dominate the body, while the striking yellow collar and sleeve cuffs provide a distinctive contrast. The yellow Nike Swoosh and UNICEF logo complete the color scheme. A Catalan flag detail appears on the back of the collar, while “Més que un club” — More than a club — reinforces one of Barcelona's defining identities.

The shirt is also inseparable from the players who wore it.

Messi. Xavi. Iniesta. Busquets. Villa. Puyol. Piqué.

It was the shirt of the 5–0 Clásico.

The shirt of Messi's brilliance.

The shirt of Wembley.

And the shirt of a Barcelona team that Guardiola himself described as one of the defining sides of his era.
