Some football shirts represent a trophy. Others represent an entire season of dominance.

The FC Bayern Munich 2012/13 Home Jersey is one of the most significant shirts in the club's history — the shirt worn during the season Bayern became European champions, Bundesliga champions and German Cup winners, completing one of the greatest trebles ever achieved in European football.

The Story Behind the Jersey

The story of the 2012/13 Bayern team begins one year earlier.

In 2012, Bayern suffered the heartbreak of losing the Champions League final at their own stadium to Chelsea on penalties. They also finished behind Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga and lost the DFB-Pokal final.

The response was extraordinary.

Under Jupp Heynckes, Bayern entered the 2012/13 season determined to turn disappointment into history. The result was a team that dominated German football and eventually conquered Europe.

Bayern secured the Bundesliga title on Matchday 28, setting records along the way — including 29 victories, 91 points and only 18 goals conceded. They finished 25 points ahead of Borussia Dortmund.

But the Champions League was where the season became legendary.

After eliminating Arsenal and Juventus, Bayern faced Barcelona in the semi-finals.

What followed shocked Europe.

Bayern won the first leg 4–0 at the Allianz Arena and then traveled to Camp Nou and won 3–0, completing a stunning 7–0 aggregate victory. It was the largest aggregate victory in a Champions League semi-final at the time.

Then came Wembley.

Wembley, 25 May 2013

The final was historic before a ball was even kicked.

For the first time, the Champions League final was contested between two German clubs: Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

After Bayern's painful defeats in the 2010 and 2012 finals, this was another opportunity for redemption.

The match was intense from the beginning.

In the 60th minute, Mario Mandžukić opened the scoring after receiving Arjen Robben's cut-back.

Dortmund equalized through İlkay Gündoğan's penalty, but Bayern kept pushing.

With just one minute remaining, the moment arrived.

Franck Ribéry found Arjen Robben inside the penalty area.

The Dutchman took one touch, moved past the defense and calmly finished beyond Roman Weidenfeller.

After the heartbreak of 2010 and especially the 2012 final, Robben had finally written his own redemption story.

Bayern were European champions for the fifth time.

But the season wasn't finished.

On 1 June 2013, Bayern defeated VfB Stuttgart 3–2 in the DFB-Pokal final, completing the Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB-Pokal treble.

They became the first German club to accomplish the feat.

The Shirt of “Super Bayern”

The shirt itself is a beautiful representation of early-2010s Bayern.

The traditional Bayern red dominates the design, complemented by white adidas detailing around the V-neck collar, shoulders and sleeves. Subtle geometric patterns across the fabric give the shirt its distinctive 2012/13 appearance, while the Deutsche Telekom “T” sponsor sits prominently across the chest.

But the defining feature of this particular version is the special “FINAL WEMBLEY 2013 – 25 MAY – WEMBLEY STADIUM” marking above the sponsor.

It connects the shirt directly to the night Bayern finally overcame their recent European heartbreak.

The players associated with it read like a generation of Bayern legends:

Philipp Lahm.
Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Franck Ribéry.
Arjen Robben.
Thomas Müller.
Manuel Neuer.
Mario Mandžukić.
Javi Martínez.
Dante.

And behind them stood Jupp Heynckes, who became only the fourth coach to win the European Cup with two different clubs.

This wasn't simply a Bayern team that won trophies.

It was Super Bayern.
