The Real Madrid 2015/16 home jersey is the shirt of La Undécima — the season when Real Madrid reclaimed the European crown and lifted their 11th European Cup. It was a season defined by Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, Luka Modrić, Toni Kroos, Marcelo, Gareth Bale and a new chapter under Zinedine Zidane.
The Story Behind the Jersey
The 2015/16 season began with Rafael Benítez in charge, but everything changed in January when Zinedine Zidane took over as first-team manager. What followed became one of the most memorable European campaigns in Real Madrid history.
Madrid dominated their Champions League group, winning five matches and drawing once against Paris Saint-Germain, Shakhtar Donetsk and Malmö. In the knockout stages, they defeated Roma before suffering a setback against Wolfsburg in the quarter-final first leg. A 2–0 defeat in Germany left Madrid on the brink — but at the Santiago Bernabéu, Cristiano Ronaldo produced one of his greatest Champions League nights, scoring a hat-trick to turn the tie around.
The semi-final against Manchester City was decided by a single goal over two legs, sending Real Madrid to Milan for their second Champions League final in three seasons.
On 28 May 2016, the story came full circle. At the San Siro, Real Madrid faced Atlético Madrid — the same opponent they had defeated two years earlier in Lisbon to win La Décima.
Sergio Ramos once again became a hero in a European final, opening the scoring in the 15th minute. Atlético equalised through Yannick Carrasco in the second half, and neither side could find a winner during extra time. The Champions League trophy would be decided from the penalty spot.
Lucas Vázquez, Marcelo, Gareth Bale and Sergio Ramos all converted for Madrid. Then came the decisive moment: Cristiano Ronaldo stepped forward and scored the fifth penalty, securing Real Madrid's 11th European Cup — La Undécima.
The shirt itself reflects the understated elegance of that Real Madrid era. The traditional white base is combined with silver-grey adidas stripes, while the inside of the collar carries the club crest alongside the famous phrase “Hala Madrid y nada más.” Real Madrid's own historical archive identifies this as the shirt worn during the campaign that culminated in La Undécima.
For collectors, this is much more than a 2015/16 Real Madrid shirt. It represents the beginning of Zidane's extraordinary Champions League legacy — the first of three European titles he would win as a manager.
