The Real Madrid 2017/18 home jersey is the shirt of La Decimotercera — the season when Real Madrid completed an extraordinary three-peat in Europe. Under Zinedine Zidane, Madrid became the first team to win the Champions League in three consecutive seasons during the modern era, ending one of the greatest European runs in football history.
The Story Behind the Jersey
Coming off La Duodécima, Real Madrid entered the 2017/18 season with a squad at the height of its powers. Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Luka Modrić, Toni Kroos, Marcelo and Sergio Ramos formed the core of a team that had already conquered Europe twice in succession.
The season began with more silverware. Madrid defeated Manchester United to win the UEFA Super Cup, then overcame Barcelona to claim the Spanish Super Cup. In December, they also won the FIFA Club World Cup, making 2017 a record-breaking year in which the club collected five trophies.
But the defining story would once again be written in the Champions League.
Real Madrid navigated the knockout stages against Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich before reaching the final in Kyiv. Their opponents were Liverpool, setting up a meeting between two of European football's most historic clubs.
On 26 May 2018, the Olympic Stadium in Kyiv witnessed one of the most memorable Champions League finals ever played.
After a goalless first half, Karim Benzema opened the scoring by intercepting a throw from Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius. Liverpool responded through Sadio Mané, but then came the moment that would define the night.
Only minutes after coming onto the pitch, Gareth Bale produced one of the greatest goals ever scored in a Champions League final — an extraordinary bicycle kick that restored Madrid's lead. Bale later scored again from distance, sealing a 3–1 victory and Real Madrid's 13th European Cup.
The triumph completed an unprecedented run: three consecutive Champions League titles, four European Cups in five seasons, and a place for Zidane's Madrid among the greatest club sides of the modern era. Zidane also became the first coach to win the European Cup in three successive seasons.
The shirt itself marked the beginning of this final chapter with a distinctly modern interpretation of the traditional Madrid white. The classic white base was paired with turquoise-blue detailing, including the adidas logo, shoulder stripes and Fly Emirates sponsor. A subtle diagonal graphic ran across the fabric, while the design also commemorated 115 years of Real Madrid history.
For collectors, this is the shirt of the final season of Zidane's first great Madrid dynasty — and the jersey worn during the night Gareth Bale's bicycle kick helped deliver La Decimotercera.
